Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Disrupt Normal Life in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Nepal - A spell of intense weather swept across the Kathmandu Valley today, bringing heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and lightning. The sudden shift in weather has affected daily life, with residents urged to remain cautious and stay indoors where possible.
The ongoing conditions are likely influenced by a combination of local atmospheric instability and seasonal weather patterns typical of pre-monsoon activity in Nepal. Thunderstorms of this nature often develop rapidly, leading to short but intense bursts of rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning strikes.
Local authorities and weather experts advise the public to avoid open areas, tall trees, and electrical infrastructure during lightning activity. Motorists have also been cautioned to drive carefully due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
While no major damages have been officially reported so far, such weather events can disrupt transportation, electricity supply, and outdoor activities. Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology is expected to continue monitoring the situation, as similar conditions may persist in parts of the valley over the coming hours.
