Lalitpur - A transdisciplinary conference held in Nepal under the WISIONS Innovation Lab initiative has successfully concluded, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to explore practical and collaborative pathways toward sustainable energy access and climate resilience.
Organized with the participation of Winrock International, People, Energy & Environment Development Association (PEEDA), and RECOFTC-Nepal, the event created a platform for dialogue among representatives from government bodies, development partners, private sector actors, and local communities.
The conference focused on fostering integrated and cross-sectoral approaches to address Nepal’s evolving energy and climate challenges. Key discussions revolved around the future of micro-hydropower systems and their potential integration into the national grid, highlighting both opportunities and technical considerations for scaling decentralized energy solutions.
Participants also explored the role of productive energy use in decarbonization, with particular attention to emerging practices such as electric cooking (e-cooking) and electric mobility (e-mobility). These solutions were discussed as viable pathways to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while improving energy efficiency and accessibility at the community level.
In addition, the conference emphasized the importance of nature-based solutions to strengthen climate resilience. Experts and practitioners common insights on how ecosystem-based approaches can help communities adapt to climate impacts while preserving biodiversity and supporting sustainable livelihoods.
The program featured a series of technical sessions and panel discussions, underscoring the value of collaboration across sectors and disciplines. Stakeholders highlighted that achieving long-term sustainability in Nepal’s energy sector requires not only technological innovation but also inclusive policy frameworks and community engagement.
Organizers noted that the outcomes and insights generated from the conference will contribute to ongoing efforts to promote clean energy transitions and climate-resilient development strategies in Nepal.FB_IMG_1777374550686-1777374579.jpg
