Changunarayan Municipality - Emphasizing the urgent need for environmental conservation, Mayor Jeevan Khatri has called on citizens to adopt tree plantation as a daily practice to ensure a sustainable future.
Speaking in the context of growing environmental challenges, the mayor highlighted that planting trees today is essential to safeguard the well-being of future generations. He stressed that individual actions-such as planting and protecting trees-can collectively bring significant environmental improvements, including cleaner air and healthier living conditions.
Changunarayan Municipality, located in the Kathmandu Valley, has previously undertaken various plantation initiatives aimed at restoring ecosystems and supporting livelihoods through greenery-based development. Past efforts have included large-scale plantation drives involving community forests and local participation, reflecting a long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
Mayor Khatri urged residents, youth groups, and local organizations to actively engage in tree plantation campaigns, reinforcing the idea that environmental protection begins at the community level. He noted that such initiatives not only enhance ecological balance but also contribute to climate resilience in rapidly urbanizing areas. The call aligns with broader national and local efforts across Nepal to promote greenery, mitigate climate change impacts, and encourage sustainable living practices.
