China-Nepal Collaboration Advances Hybrid Rice Research in Chitwan

Chitwan, Nepal - Young diplomats from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal joined experts from the Chongqing Academy of Agricultural Sciences of China and Nepal's Agriculture and Forestry University in Chitwan to transplant Chinese hybrid rice seedlings as part of the second round of experimental field trials under a China-aided agricultural cooperation project.
The initiative aims to evaluate and cultivate high-yield hybrid rice varieties that are well-suited to Nepal's agro-climatic conditions while also meeting the taste preferences of Nepali consumers. The collaborative research seeks to identify rice varieties capable of improving productivity, strengthening food security, and enhancing farmers' livelihoods through sustainable agricultural practices.
The experimental transplanting marks another important milestone in the growing agricultural partnership between Nepal and China.
