Kathmandu, December 3, 2024 – The Fifteenth South Asia Economic Summit (SAES XV) is set to take place in Kathmandu, between 11-13 December 2024, bringing together regional leaders, policymakers, academics, and civil society organizations. Under the theme "Unleashing an Equitable Green Transformation in South Asia," this year’s summit seeks to chart a roadmap for fostering inclusive and sustainable development across the region.FB_IMG_1733146284570-1733182341.jpgOrganized by the South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) in collaboration with other prominent regional organizations, the three-day event will provide a platform for dialogue and actionable solutions to address South Asia's pressing environmental and economic challenges.

Why It Matters

Launched in 2008, the South Asia Economic Summit has become a pivotal forum for tackling key economic and developmental challenges in one of the most dynamic yet vulnerable regions in the world. This year’s focus on equitable green transformation is particularly timely, given the escalating climate crisis and the need for sustainable growth strategies.

The summit will delve into critical issues such as:

Renewable energy transitions.

Climate-resilient infrastructure.

Inclusive economic models for marginalized communities.

The event also promises to strengthen regional cooperation by encouraging dialogue among key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and grassroots organizations.

Driving Regional

SAWTEE has emphasized that achieving an equitable green transformation is essential for ensuring long-term prosperity in South Asia. This summit will not only highlight existing challenges but also foster collaboration in identifying innovative and sustainable solutions.
