US-Israel–Iran Conflict Enters Fourth Week Amid Intensifying Strikes and Stalled Diplomacy

Kathmandu - The ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has entered its 27th day, with military escalation continuing across multiple fronts and diplomatic efforts showing little progress toward de-escalation.
Escalating Military Operations
On the ground, the situation remains volatile. Israeli forces have continued a series of airstrikes targeting strategic locations inside Iran, including reported renewed attacks in Isfahan-a key hub for military and nuclear-related infrastructure.
In response, Iran has intensified retaliatory actions, launching missile strikes toward Israeli territories and targeting positions linked to US forces in the region. Air raid sirens have reportedly been activated in major cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, reflecting the expanding reach of the conflict.
The confrontation has also spilled beyond the immediate borders. The Iran-backed Hezbollah has claimed involvement in attacks against Israeli military assets in southern Lebanon, raising concerns of a broader regional war.
Strategic and Regional Implications
Tensions are rising sharply around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical transit chokepoints. Increased military deployments by the United States aim to secure maritime routes amid fears of disruption to global oil supply chains.
The conflict has already begun affecting global markets, with energy prices showing upward pressure due to uncertainty in the Gulf region. Analysts warn that prolonged instability could further strain international trade and economic recovery.
Diverging War Objectives
Despite their military coordination, the United States and Israel appear to have differing strategic priorities. Washington is reportedly focused on weakening Iran’s broader military capabilities, while Israel is targeting high-value strategic and leadership-linked assets. These differences could influence the direction and duration of the conflict.
Diplomatic Deadlock
Efforts to initiate ceasefire negotiations remain largely unsuccessful. While the United States has indicated openness to dialogue and proposed diplomatic pathways, Iran has publicly rejected negotiations under current conditions, maintaining its stance on resistance.
The absence of meaningful diplomatic engagement has increased fears among international observers that the conflict may deepen further, potentially drawing in more regional actors.
Growing Global Concern
As the conflict enters its fourth week, the risk of a wider regional confrontation remains high. With continued strikes, expanding battlefronts, and stalled diplomacy, the situation poses serious implications not only for the Middle East but also for global stability.
