Jomsom - Air services between Pokhara and Jomsom have resumed from Saturday after remaining suspended for more than three months, restoring a crucial air link to the mountainous district of Mustang District.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal office in Jomsom, Summit Air operated three flights from Pokhara to Jomsom early Saturday morning, marking the restart of regular operations on the route.
The Pokhara-Jomsom air corridor is considered one of Nepal’s most important mountain air routes, serving both local residents and travelers visiting the trans-Himalayan region. The resumption of flights is expected to ease transportation challenges for communities in Upper Mustang and surrounding areas, where road travel can be lengthy and weather-dependent.
Jomsom, located along the Kali Gandaki River corridor, functions as a key administrative and tourism gateway to Mustang. The restoration of air connectivity is also expected to support local economic activities, tourism services, and supply chains that rely heavily on air transport in the region.
Local authorities noted that flights will continue based on weather conditions, which often influence aviation operations in high-altitude Himalayan terrain.
