Qatar Chamber Business Delegation Visits Kathmandu to Strengthen Nepal-Qatar Economic Cooperation

Kathmandu - A business delegation from the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has arrived in Kathmandu with the objective of strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Nepal and Qatar. The visit reflects growing interest from the Qatari private sector in exploring economic and investment opportunities in Nepal.
The delegation, led by Qatar Chamber board member Mohd Ahmed M. A. Al Obaidly, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Prof. Dr. Bishwanath Paudel. During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on the current state of economic relations between the two countries, with particular focus on banking cooperation, investment facilitation, and prospects for expanding private-sector engagement.
According to officials, the talks also addressed the need for stronger institutional coordination to encourage cross-border investment, improve financial cooperation, and create a more conducive environment for bilateral business partnerships. Banking sector collaboration and policy-level support for investment promotion were highlighted as key areas for future cooperation.
The delegation’s visit has been organised at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). FNCCI officials stated that the engagement aims to deepen trade and investment ties between Nepal and Qatar by fostering direct dialogue between policymakers, financial institutions, and the private sector.
Nepal and Qatar maintain longstanding economic relations, particularly in labour, remittance inflows, and trade. Recent interactions between business communities of the two countries indicate a shared interest in diversifying cooperation into investment, finance, and enterprise development, aligning with Nepal’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen its private-sector-led growth.
