Kathmandu, January 23, 2026 - The 4th National Telemedicine and 1st National Digital Health Conference officially commenced today in Kathmandu, marking an important milestone in Nepal’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its healthcare system through technology-driven solutions.
Organized at Hotel Crowne Imperial, the two-day national conference (January 23-24) has brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals, digital health experts, technologists, researchers, and innovators from across the country. The event aims to promote evidence-based discussions, cross-sector collaboration, and shared learning to advance telemedicine and digital health services in Nepal.
According to the organizers, the conference is designed to address both opportunities and challenges in expanding telemedicine, particularly in a country where geographical barriers and uneven access to healthcare remain persistent issues. Sessions are focusing on policy frameworks, digital health infrastructure, ethical use of health data, innovation in remote care, and practical pathways for integrating digital technologies into Nepal’s public and private health systems.
Speaking on the occasion, members of the Organizing Committee emphasized that digital health is no longer a future concept but an urgent necessity, especially in improving healthcare access for rural and underserved communities. The conference also seeks to encourage collaboration between government agencies, healthcare institutions, technology providers, and development partners.
The launch of Nepal’s first national-level digital health conference, alongside the established telemedicine forum, reflects growing recognition of digital tools as a key component of health system resilience, efficiency, and inclusivity.
The organizers have invited stakeholders to actively participate in discussions over the two days, with the shared objective of translating ideas into practical action and building partnerships that can move Nepal’s digital health agenda forward.
The conference will conclude on January 24 with reflections on policy recommendations and future directions for telemedicine and digital health in Nepal.
