Partial Western Weather System Brings Fog to Terai; Clear Skies Elsewhere - Meteorological Division Forecast

Kathmandu, Nepal - The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) reports that a partial western weather system continues to influence the country’s weather, bringing the likelihood of fog and mist, particularly in the Terai region.
According to the MFD, fog formation is expected in some parts of the Terai this afternoon, and dense fog may develop during the early morning and evening hours. The division emphasizes that this reduced visibility could affect transportation, especially air travel and road traffic.
In a forecast released today, the division noted that high hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces are likely to experience partly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, most other regions across Nepal are expected to remain generally clear.
Impact on Transport Services
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has cautioned that:
Air services may face delays due to fog and reduced visibility at several Terai airports.
Pilots and airline operators should prepare for potential disruptions in both arrival and departure schedules.
Drivers of long-distance and short-distance vehicles are urged to exercise extra caution, particularly on highways and major road networks where foggy conditions could limit visibility.
Travelers are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and follow safety instructions issued by relevant authorities.
This weather pattern is typical during transitional seasons and underscores the importance of preparedness for visibility-related hazards in lowland areas.
