Lalitpur - Minister for Forests and Environment Madhav Prasad Chaulagain has said that the use of indigenous forest products must be increased in the construction of government structures.
Addressing the annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepal Forest Products Industry Entrepreneurs on Thursday, Minister Chaulagain stated this.
He said that the use of materials made from foreign products even within the Ministry of Forests itself was shameful.
He said that he has been working by treating every day as the last day in order to bring improvements not only in policies but also in practical matters.
He also said that the use of domestic raw materials, policy facilitation, and market expansion are among the government’s priorities.
He said, “There have also been discussions about the Government of Nepal using its own forest products while constructing its structures. On the first day we went to the Ministry of Forests, the path through which we went to the minister’s office-seeing that only foreign products were used there made us laugh. There can be nothing more shameful than this. So, we have decided to gradually bring changes. We are working by considering every day as the last day. When the next day begins, we again work by considering it as the last day. Give us 30 days, we will do something.”
He also expressed his commitment to move forward by delivering results within 30 days for forest product industry entrepreneurs.
