Landslides Block BP Highway in Kavre, Stranding Passengers

Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides along several sections of the BP Highway in Roshi Rural Municipality–Mangaltar area of Kavre, bringing vehicular movement to a complete halt in both directions.

According to the District Traffic Office, Kavre, mud and debris swept onto the road, forcing authorities to suspend traffic. Efforts are underway to reopen the highway, with dozers deployed to clear the obstructions.

The disruption has left many passengers stranded mid-journey, while long-distance and short-distance vehicles remain stuck along the highway. Officials have urged travelers to remain cautious, as further rainfall could trigger additional landslides and prolong road closures.

The BP Highway, a vital link between Kathmandu and eastern Nepal, often faces challenges during the monsoon season, underscoring the need for improved slope management and timely road maintenance.
