According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, monsoon winds are affecting the country today, resulting in generally cloudy weather and the possibility of rainfall in most areas. The division has indicated that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall tonight, particularly in one or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati Province.
According to the forecast issued for today afternoon, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a chance of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many places of Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces, as well as in other hilly regions of the country. Some areas of the Terai region may also experience light to moderate rainfall.
Similarly, for tonight, the weather is expected to remain cloudy throughout the country. Most places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces are likely to witness moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning, while some areas in the remaining Terai regions may also receive rainfall.
The department has warned that due to the possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly region of Bagmati Province, the risks of soil erosion, landslides, and debris flow may increase. People are advised to remain alert. Moreover, as the water flow in rivers, streams, and rivulets may rise, the general public is requested to take necessary precautions.
