Bangkok, June 18, 2025 - Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Nepal, Mr. Ramnath Adhikari, is leading a high-level delegation to the High-Level Investment Dialogue Asia and the Pacific under the FAO’s Hand-in-Hand (HIH) Initiative in Bangkok, Thailand. Accompanying him is Mr. Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Bhutan and Nepal, along with senior Nepali officials.
The Dialogue brings together policymakers, global investors, and development organizations to forge impactful partnerships that promote sustainable agrifood systems. Nepal’s participation underscores its dedication to leveraging the HIH Initiative for rural development, climate-resilient agriculture, and food security.
Nepal's Key Focus Areas
Nepal is showcasing its priority investment areas, including:
Climate-Resilient Agriculture: Introducing advanced technologies and practices to support farmers in mitigating climate change impacts.
Inclusive Rural Development: Building infrastructures like storage, processing centers, and transportation to empower remote communities.
Food and Nutrition Security: Addressing malnutrition and ensuring sustainable food availability.
Minister Adhikari emphasized Nepal’s commitment to driving transformative changes in agriculture, stating, “This platform enables us to connect with global investors to foster sustainable solutions and inclusive growth in the agrifood sector.”
Unlocking Global Opportunities
The FAO-led HIH Initiative is a country-driven effort that combines data analytics with investment matchmaking. This approach aligns Nepal’s national priorities with global funding opportunities, removing barriers that small farmers and agribusinesses often face.
During the event, Nepal’s delegation is participating in thematic roundtables and individual investor meetings, aiming to secure partnerships that align with the country’s goals. FAO Representative Mr. Shimizu highlighted the importance of collaboration, saying, “Investing in sustainable agriculture is essential for achieving resilient agrifood systems in the region.”
Looking Ahead
The outcomes of this Dialogue will set the stage for the Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum later this year at the FAO’s World Food Forum in Rome, where Nepal and other participating countries will present detailed investment proposals.
Nepal’s active involvement in this global initiative demonstrates its resolve to achieve inclusive growth while addressing climate challenges and food security issues through impactful international partnerships.
