Dhangadhi, Sudurpashchim Province | August 11, 2026

A four-day residential training program titled “Leading Green Schools and Climate-Ready Classrooms” has been successfully completed in Dhangadhi, Sudurpashchim Province, from Shrawan 16 to 19 (August 1-4, 2026).

The program was organized by the Principals Association of Nepal (PAN) in collaboration with Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED), with support from UNESCO and the Government of Norway.

The training brought together 30 participants, including principals and Green School focal teachers from 15 schools across Sudurpashchim Province, with the objective of strengthening school leadership and promoting climate-responsive and environmentally sustainable education.

During the training, participants engaged in interactive discussions, practical exercises, group work, and experience-sharing sessions focused on:

Climate Change Education

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

Green School concepts and practices

Climate-resilient classrooms

School-level environmental action planning

Local and indigenous knowledge-based solutions for sustainability

The sessions emphasized transforming schools into green, environment-friendly, sustainable, and climate-resilient learning spaces that can better respond to the growing impacts of climate change.

A key outcome of the program was the development of school-based green and climate-friendly action plans by participating schools. These plans were designed according to the local needs, environmental context, and priorities of each school and are expected to be implemented in the coming months.

Organizers expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute significantly to enhancing the capacity of school leaders and teachers and support Nepal’s broader efforts to build greener, more sustainable, climate-friendly, and resilient schools.

The program also highlighted the importance of collaboration among educational institutions, international organizations, and development partners in advancing climate-responsive education and preparing future generations to address environmental and climate challenges.FB_IMG_1786439945321-1786439978.jpg
