Kathmandu, July 29 (Ecosphere News) - Marking World Hepatitis Day 2026, SPARSHA Nepal, with support from the Center for Disease Analysis Foundation (CDA Foundation) through the ALLIES grant, organized a high-level panel discussion titled “Breaking Barriers to Hepatitis Elimination in Nepal: From Policy to Community Action.”

The event brought together representatives from government agencies, international organizations, civil society organizations, healthcare institutions, and the public health sector to strengthen dialogue and collaboration on Nepal’s response to viral hepatitis.

The discussion focused on the challenges that continue to hinder hepatitis prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care in Nepal. Participants emphasized the need for stronger policy implementation, increased public awareness, expanded screening services, improved access to treatment, and community-based action to accelerate progress toward the global goal of hepatitis elimination.

Speakers highlighted that viral hepatitis remains a significant public health concern, and coordinated efforts among policymakers, health professionals, development partners, and local communities are essential to reduce infections, prevent liver-related complications, and ensure equitable access to healthcare services across the country.

The panel also underscored the importance of harm reduction services, evidence-based interventions, early detection, and sustained investment in public health systems to achieve long-term progress.

SPARSHA Nepal expressed appreciation to all panelists, participants, attendees, and members of its team for their contributions to the successful completion of the program. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to working with national and international partners to support Nepal’s efforts toward a hepatitis-free future.

According to the organizers, the event served as an important platform for connecting policy discussions with community-level action, reinforcing the message of World Hepatitis Day 2026 that eliminating hepatitis requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration.FB_IMG_1785324523796-1785324570.jpg
