Kathmandu, 14 Shrawan - The Prime Minister has expressed deep sorrow over the recent violent incident in Sunsari, paying tribute to the deceased, wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured, and expressing commitment to ensuring justice and compensation for the affected families.
Through a public appeal, the Prime Minister stated that it is extremely tragic that anger arising from an ordinary incident escalated to a situation in which lives were lost, and added that an environment of fear, mistrust, and insecurity in society is an inhumane situation.
He stated that he is deeply saddened by the developments in Sunsari not only as Prime Minister but also as a citizen. Mentioning that he feels the pain being endured by the families of the deceased, he assured that the government will move the judicial process forward as quickly as possible and provide compensation.
The appeal clearly states that the incident in which citizens were killed and injured by gunfire from security personnel cannot be taken lightly under any circumstances. It has been informed that the investigation process has already begun and that necessary action will be taken in accordance with the law.
The Prime Minister stated that although the government had shown its presence from the very beginning of the incident, those efforts were not sufficient, and he added that a serious review of the entire incident is underway. According to him, immediate necessary decisions and corrective measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
He expressed commitment that the government will use all its power to ensure that the families of the deceased, the injured, and the families of the injured feel that justice has been delivered. Until then, he urged everyone to restrain feelings of provocation, anger, and revenge, noting that religion also teaches the protection of human life.
The Prime Minister stated that “the very first religion of a human being is to save human life,” adding that the government’s first duty is to ensure the safety of citizens, take action against the guilty, and provide justice and compensation to the victims.
In conclusion, he once again urged citizens to keep anger, fear, and outrage under control; not to participate in activities that provoke or incite others; to remain safe and restrained; and to maintain love, respect, and social harmony toward one another.
