Government Signals Revival Effort for Long-Closed Hetauda Textile Industry

Hetauda, Nepal - The federal government has indicated renewed efforts to revive the long-closed Hetauda Textile Industry, with Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gaurikumari Yadav conducting an on-site inspection of the industrial facility and reviewing its current operational condition.
During the inspection, Minister Yadav observed the administrative building, yarn production section, cloth production section, and the condition of existing machinery and infrastructure. The minister received a briefing from Sangita Kunwar, Manager of the Hetauda Industrial Area Management Office, regarding the present status of the factory and its operational readiness.
Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Minister Yadav stated that the government is preparing to mobilize the necessary resources to bring the industry back into operation on a long-term basis. According to government remarks made during the inspection, the revival initiative is expected to support industrial development, encourage domestic production, and contribute to employment generation.
The inspection was attended by Ministry Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, senior government officials, Manager Sangita Kunwar, and Member of Parliament Prakash Gautam.
The latest development reflects the government’s broader policy direction toward assessing and potentially reactivating closed and underperforming state-linked industries as part of Nepal’s industrial and economic agenda.
