Himalayan Trust Expands Digital Education Access with New Computer Labs in Solukhumbu

Solukhumbu, Nepal - Himalayan Trust Nepal has expanded its efforts to strengthen digital education in remote Himalayan communities by establishing computer laboratories in four additional schools across Solukhumbu district.
The newly equipped institutions include Gudel Secondary School in Mahakulung Rural Municipality, Himalaya Secondary School in Hankula of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, Himalayan Buddhist Academy in Serlo, and Namobuddha Basic School in Phera under Solududhkunda Municipality.
This initiative was implemented through a collaborative partnership involving EduTech Nepal, Himalayan Trust New Zealand, and the respective local schools. The program reflects a growing commitment among development partners to bridge the digital divide in Nepal’s mountainous regions.
According to the Trust, the primary goal of the project is to integrate technology into everyday teaching and learning practices. By doing so, it aims to enhance students’ digital literacy, equip them with essential 21st-century skills, and support teachers in adopting more interactive and modern instructional methods.
With the addition of these four labs, the total number of computer labs established by the initiative has reached 54 across Solukhumbu and Khotang districts. This milestone highlights sustained efforts to improve access to technology-enabled education in geographically challenging and underserved areas.
Education experts note that such interventions play a critical role in narrowing educational disparities between urban and rural Nepal, particularly in an era where digital skills are increasingly essential for academic and professional advancement.FB_IMG_1776748377607-1776748575.jpg
As Nepal continues to navigate the challenges of equitable education access, initiatives like this signal a positive step toward empowering students in remote communities through technology.
