Kathmandu, Nov 25, 2025 -The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), under the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), has opened its call for research concept notes for the SANDEE Research Grant 2026. The program aims to strengthen research capacity in environmental and resource economics across South Asia and the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region.
The 2026 grant seeks innovative and policy-relevant research proposals that address critical environmental and developmental challenges. SANDEE encourages researchers to submit concept notes aligned with ICIMOD’s strategic focus areas, which include:
1. Climate and Environmental Risks
2. Resilient Economies and Landscapes
3. Regional Action and Global Advocacy
The call prioritizes projects that offer clear policy implications and respond to real-world demands in the region.
Eligible applicants include junior to mid-career professionals affiliated with universities, research institutes, government bodies, and non-profit research organizations in South Asia and the HKH region. SANDEE has also emphasized its commitment to equity and inclusion by encouraging women academics, researchers, and practitioners to apply.
Selected concept notes will receive further guidance to develop full proposals under SANDEE’s competitive research support framework.
The deadline for submission is 31 December 2025, and applicants can find more details through ICIMOD’s official portal.
As environmental pressures intensify across the region, the SANDEE Research Grant remains a vital platform to foster evidence-based policymaking and regional academic leadership.
