Kathmandu, 6 November 2024 - President Ram Chandra Paudel will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, today to attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. President Paudel is visiting Baku at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, leading a high-level delegation from Nepal to the international summit.IMG_20241106_071620-1730857078.jpg

According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Paudel is scheduled to address the ‘World Leaders Climate Action Summit’ on November 11, a key session of the high-level meetings set for November 11 and 12. This marks a significant opportunity for Nepal to amplify its climate-related concerns on the global stage.

Nepal’s delegation will lead a dedicated session on November 12, drawing global attention to the country’s climate agenda. The session, chaired by President Paudel, will focus on “Addressing Climate-Induced Loss and Damage in Mountainous Regions,” a critical topic given Nepal’s vulnerability to climate impacts. As one of the world’s most climate-affected countries, Nepal continues to advocate for greater global recognition of the specific challenges faced by mountainous nations in tackling climate change.
