Kathmandu, June 15, 2025 – The Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) recently organized a special program to honor outgoing Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari, and welcome the newly appointed Governor, Dr. Biswo Poudel.
In a heartfelt speech, Mr. Adhikari expressed his gratitude to the banking sector for their support during his tenure. Reflecting on challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, he acknowledged the pivotal role played by banking institutions in stabilizing Nepal's economy. Highlighting the collaborative efforts of the sector, Mr. Adhikari stated, "The post-pandemic economic recovery was a collective achievement, showcasing the resilience and cooperation of all stakeholders." He also admitted that while some decisions during his tenure were difficult, they were necessary for long-term economic reform. Mr. Adhikari pledged to continue supporting the sector through his experience and insights.
Dr. Biswo Poudel, the newly appointed Governor, outlined his vision for the future of Nepal’s banking sector. Emphasizing continuity, he said, "The existing policies at Nepal Rastra Bank will be refined and strengthened as needed, with a focus on fostering inclusiveness and long-term development." He stressed the importance of consultation and collaboration with stakeholders, aiming to build a more robust and inclusive banking framework.
Representatives from commercial banks expressed their appreciation for Mr. Adhikari's leadership and extended their best wishes to Dr. Poudel. The event was attended by Chief Executive Officers, Deputy Chief Executive Officers, and other prominent figures in the banking industry.
