Nepal's commitment to sustainable development and green growth has taken center stage with a series of multi-stakeholder dialogues initiated by the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ). These discussions, part of the "Media for Inclusive Green Growth in Nepal" (MIGG-Nepal) project, are funded by the European Union in Nepal and aim to foster sustainable natural resource management across the country.
In recent weeks, two significant dialogues were held in Lumbini and Karnali provinces. These events brought together a diverse group of participants, including provincial ministers, parliamentarians, local officials, journalists, and representatives from civil society. Discussions centered on identifying sustainable natural resource management strategies and exploring green growth opportunities tailored to the unique environmental and socio-economic contexts of these provinces.
The program's approach to inclusivity has garnered praise, as it ensures diverse voices are heard and reflected in the discourse on sustainability. The dialogue series will continue across all seven provinces, culminating in a national-level discussion that seeks to align regional insights with national policies and strategies.
This initiative underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental challenges, emphasizing that sustainable development requires a multi-faceted approach that integrates government, media, and civil society.
Stay tuned as NEFEJ continues this critical dialogue series, paving the way for a greener and more inclusive Nepal.
