Kathmandu, May 15, 2025 – The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has called on community schools across the nation to resume teaching and learning activities during their winter or summer vacations as deemed appropriate. This comes in response to disruptions caused by recent teacher protests in the capital.
In a press release, the ministry highlighted that demonstrations by teachers and staff in Chaitra 2081 BS significantly impacted student enrollment and regular academic activities in community schools. To mitigate these effects, the ministry has requested schools to utilize vacation periods for educational recovery.
The statement emphasized the need for schools to align their plans with commitments made by the Federation of Community School Teachers. "Managing administrative arrangements and addressing absenteeism caused by professional movement programs are crucial to uplifting teachers' morale and ensuring smooth operations," the release noted.
Furthermore, the ministry has appealed to local governments, schools, and stakeholders to foster continuous engagement and collaboration. The goal is to enhance students' learning outcomes while motivating teachers to deliver their best in the classroom.
With teachers and staff having returned to schools after the protests, the ministry underscored the importance of a coordinated approach to restore normalcy and improve the education sector's overall performance.
