The week-long sporting event concluded on Sunday at NERIC Academy with a prize distribution ceremony following competitive matches across multiple sports disciplines.
Organised with the aim of promoting sportsmanship, cooperation, and physical fitness among school-level students, the Sports Week began on Mangsir 22 and ran until Poush 1. More than 139 private and boarding schools from across Kathmandu district participated in the event, with students up to Grade 9 competing in four sports: futsal, basketball, kabaddi, and tug of war.
The opening ceremony featured a march-past competition, where Apex School secured first place, followed by Sagarmatha School in second position and Nirmal Jyoti School in third. The futsal tournament, hosted at Dikshalaya Foundation in Kapan, saw participation from 39 teams, with Nirmal Jyoti School winning the title, followed by Milan Dharmasthali School and Kamana School. The futsal competition was coordinated by Narayan Babu Timsina, Vice President of National PABSON Kathmandu.

Addressing the closing ceremony, National PABSON Kathmandu District President Amrit Kumar Khadka emphasised that sports are an integral part of quality education. He also expressed gratitude to participating schools, teachers, parents, sports coordinators, and sponsors for their support.
National PABSON Central President Subash Nyaupane echoed similar views, stating that private schools must go beyond academic performance and take responsibility for students’ physical, mental, and social wellbeing. He highlighted that events such as Sports Week encourage healthy competition, teamwork, and resilience among students, adding that National PABSON remains committed to expanding such initiatives nationwide.
National PABSON Kathmandu District Vice President Prem Kumar Bhujel thanked the schools that provided playgrounds and facilities for different sports, as well as the sponsors including Unique Publication, Shubhakamanā Publication, Triton College, and NERIC Academy-for their contributions. Winning teams and players were awarded trophies, medals, and cash prizes.
Organisers stated that the successful completion of Sports Week-2082 delivered a positive message about the role of sports in education, reaffirming National PABSON’s commitment to fostering balanced, inclusive, and student-centred learning environments across Nepal.
