Hon. Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant, officially launched the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) School Accreditation at the National Seminar on “Quality TVET: The Need of Now.” The launch marks a milestone in Nepal’s efforts to enhance the credibility, quality assurance, and employability of its TVET sector.
Speaking at the seminar, Minister Pant underlined the significance of accreditation as a tool to raise standards and prepare a workforce that aligns with national development needs and global labor market demands.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Ursula stressed the importance of ensuring quality, relevance, and inclusiveness in technical education, noting that a strong accreditation system will help build a workforce capable of responding to both local aspirations and international opportunities.
Similarly, Er. Mahesh Bhattarai, Member Secretary of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), highlighted accreditation as a foundation for continuous improvement, enabling TVET schools to become engines of opportunity and pathways to employability.
The accreditation framework has been developed with technical support from the Quality TVET for Youth (QualiTY) project, a bilateral initiative of the Governments of Nepal and Switzerland. The project is implemented with technical assistance from Swisscontact on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
Stakeholders emphasized that this initiative not only strengthens institutional credibility but also creates long-term opportunities for Nepali youth by linking education more closely with the demands of the job market.
