Kathmandu, August 19, 2025 – The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has entered into a strategic partnership with TikTok to promote the country’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure experiences through digital storytelling. The collaboration marks a fresh approach to positioning Nepal as a global tourism destination in the digital age.
Campaign #LifetimeExperiences
The initiative will roll out under the campaign banner #LifetimeExperiences, highlighting Nepal’s iconic Himalayas, spiritual sites, vibrant festivals, and hidden travel gems. Through creative short-form videos, the campaign aims to inspire global travelers while amplifying authentic, community-centered stories.
Training Local Creators
As part of the agreement, NTB and TikTok will organize capacity-building workshops for local creators, small businesses, and tourism operators. These sessions are designed to enhance digital storytelling, expand global reach, and enable Nepali voices to tell their own stories in compelling and professional ways.
Showcase Event in Kathmandu
International travel creators are expected to visit Nepal later this year, with a major #VisitNepal showcase event planned in November 2025 in Kathmandu. Their collaboration with local storytellers will help present Nepal’s tourism potential to millions of TikTok users worldwide.
Digital Destination Hub
TikTok will feature a dedicated Destination Nepal page within the app, coupled with campaign hashtags and targeted notifications to boost engagement. This digital platform will serve as a virtual gateway to the country, encouraging users to explore Nepal both online and in person.
Tourism and Sustainability
Officials emphasize that the partnership is not only about boosting visitor numbers but also about ensuring sustainable growth. By combining global exposure with local empowerment, the campaign seeks to create long-term benefits for communities while protecting cultural and natural heritage.
From Ban to Partnership
The collaboration also reflects a significant policy shift. TikTok was banned in Nepal in November 2023 over social concerns but reinstated in August 2024 under conditions that included supporting tourism and promoting digital literacy. This new campaign is seen as a practical outcome of that decision.
Ecosphere News Perspective
Nepal’s digital collaboration with TikTok demonstrates how technology can be used to connect local voices with global audiences. By focusing on authentic experiences and empowering storytellers on the ground, the initiative blends tourism promotion with cultural preservation and sustainable development.
