Webinar to Explore Expanding Climate Finance Access for Adolescent Girls and Young Women

Adolescent girls and young women are increasingly contributing to climate action through community-based adaptation, ecosystem restoration, green entrepreneurship and environmental advocacy. However, access to the financial resources needed to develop and scale their initiatives remains a significant challenge.
To address this issue, the Gender and Climate Finance Collective (GCFC) and UNICEF are organising a webinar titled “Invest in Her: Expanding Access to Climate Finance for Adolescent Girls and Young Women” on 20 October 2026, in observance of the International Day of the Girl.
The webinar will bring together adolescent girls, young women, climate finance experts and funders to discuss how climate finance can become more accessible, inclusive and responsive to the needs and priorities of young female climate leaders.
The discussion will highlight climate solutions already being led by girls and young women, while examining the barriers they face in accessing funding. Participants will also explore how climate finance pathways operate and why sustained financial support beyond initial seed funding is essential to developing and scaling locally led climate initiatives.
The event will further focus on practical measures that funders, governments and development partners can take to make climate finance more accessible, flexible and responsive to the realities of adolescent girls and young women.
Despite their growing contributions to climate action, young women often need greater institutional support and financial opportunities to turn their ideas into lasting solutions. Improving access to climate finance can help strengthen their leadership, support green enterprises, advance community resilience and promote more inclusive climate action.
The webinar aims to encourage dialogue among climate leaders, financing institutions and development partners on how to ensure that girls and young women are not only recognised as contributors to climate solutions but are also equipped with the resources necessary to lead and expand their initiatives.
