Kathmandu - Young climate leaders and policy advocates gathered to review Nepal's Climate Change Policy 2019 during the Youth Policy Lab: Reviewing and Reimagining Nepal's Climate Change Policy 2019, held on 23 June 2026. The event was jointly organized by Prakriti Resources Centre in collaboration with Plan International Nepal, Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA), Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), and members of CANSA.
The policy lab brought together youth representatives to critically assess the existing climate policy and discuss ways to strengthen Nepal's climate governance in response to emerging environmental and climate challenges.
During the workshop, participants worked in thematic groups to review various aspects of the Climate Change Policy 2019. They identified implementation challenges, policy gaps, and opportunities for improving climate governance. The groups later presented their findings and engaged in discussions on how the policy could better reflect current climate realities and the priorities of young people.
Participants also shared recommendations aimed at making Nepal's climate policy more inclusive, responsive, and effective. The discussions emphasized the importance of increasing youth participation in climate-related decision-making processes and ensuring that future policy revisions consider the perspectives of younger generations.
According to the organizers, the Youth Policy Lab served as a platform for collaboration, dialogue, and evidence-based policy recommendations. They noted that meaningful youth engagement is essential for achieving sustainable climate action and strengthening national climate resilience.
The program concluded with a shared commitment among participating organizations and young leaders to continue contributing to climate policy discussions and supporting Nepal's efforts to build a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
