Floodwaters Surge in Sange Stream Following Intense Rainfall in Tanahun

Tanahun District - Continuous heavy rainfall over a span of two hours has led to a sharp rise in water levels at the Sange Stream today, raising concerns among local residents and authorities about potential flood risks in nearby settlements.
According to initial observations, the sudden downpour significantly increased the volume and velocity of the stream, causing it to swell beyond its usual flow. While no major damage has been officially reported so far, locals have expressed  concern over possible inundation of low-lying areas and agricultural land if rainfall persists.
Seasonal streams like Sange are particularly vulnerable to rapid flooding during intense rainfall events, a pattern increasingly observed across Nepal in recent years. Experts link such incidents to changing precipitation patterns influenced by climate variability, which can result in short bursts of heavy rain and flash flooding.
Local authorities have urged residents living near riverbanks and flood-prone zones to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Emergency response teams are on standby to assess the situation and respond if conditions worsen.
As the monsoon-like weather continues to impact different parts of the country, this incident highlights the growing need for improved early warning systems, community preparedness, and sustainable watershed management.
