Dubai, June 14, 2025 – A massive fire broke out in the Marina Pinnacle, a 67-story residential skyscraper in Dubai Marina, late Friday night. Swift action by the Dubai Civil Defence ensured that all 3,820 residents across 764 apartments were safely evacuated, with no injuries or casualties reported.
The fire, which raged for nearly six hours, was extinguished early Saturday morning. Emergency services, including ambulance and medical support teams, were present to ensure the health and well-being of evacuees. Authorities have collaborated with the building's developer to provide temporary housing for those displaced by the blaze.
Several residents reported alarming issues with the fire safety systems, stating that fire alarms failed to activate. Many only became aware of the fire through smoke sightings, sirens, or warnings from neighbors. The stairwells were heavily smoke-filled, forcing some residents to resort to using elevators for evacuation, a concerning deviation from standard safety procedures.
Tram services in the Dubai Marina area were temporarily suspended, with shuttle buses arranged for commuters. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess potential failures in the building’s fire safety and alarm systems.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about high-rise fire safety in Dubai, prompting renewed calls for stricter enforcement of safety protocols in residential towers.
