Kathmandu, June 15, 2025 - Transparency International (TI) Nepal organized a significant interaction program under its Integrity and Good Governance in Climate Change Initiatives. The event, held in the capital, focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and governance practices within financial institutions.
The program, chaired by TI Nepal's President, Madan Krishna Sharma, provided a platform to delve into Nepal Rastra Bank's CSR guidelines. Saurabh Pokharel, Deputy Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, presented these guidelines, emphasizing their importance in fostering accountability and transparency in financial contributions toward climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
Discussions among representatives of commercial and development banks revolved around the role of financial institutions in promoting transparent and responsible investments in climate change-related activities. Key challenges and opportunities were addressed, with valuable suggestions shared by the participants.
The event highlighted the necessity of aligning CSR activities with sustainable development goals and ensuring robust governance frameworks to enhance their impact. The participation of prominent financial institution representatives from the Kathmandu Valley underscored the significance of the dialogue.
